“Christmas is the perfect time to celebrate the love of God and family and to create memories that will last forever. Jesus is God's perfect, indescribable gift. The amazing thing is that not only are we able to receive this gift, but we are able to share it with others on Christmas and every other day of the year.”
- Joel Osteen
Christmas is just around the corner as we all feel the hustle and bustle of the season, hear children singing carols, see people rushing in and out of the mall, and smell the aroma of these season’s delectable dishes. Whether we admit it or not, Christmas has sadly become highly commercialized and children equating it with material gifts is also a fact. But, we all know that “Christmas doesn’t come from the store” as the Grinch said, “maybe, perhaps, it means a little bit more.” True enough, Christmas is more than the eyes could see, it is about the Baby born in Bethlehem. It is about Jesus Christ – the perfect gift of the Father to us.
This year, KSCSI launched the Christmas for Christ shoebox project where donors - individuals, groups, companies, or churches can give small items or gifts to the sponsored kid described in each gift box. The filled boxes will then be given to the sponsored kids in their Christmas program.
In the morning of December 21, 2017, all students had their fun-filled and festive Christmas party in their respective rooms with their teachers and classmates. Everyone was happy for the gifts they have received from their monito and monita.
After the Christmas class programs, the Sponsored Kids had their Gift-Giving program which were headed by the Sponsorship Committee, Mrs. Mavic Fojas and Mrs. Fe Arcala. The Student Government was in-charged of the games in which everyone enjoyed, from preschool to Junior High School. The sponsored kids then received their Christmas boxes. All smiles were in their faces as they opened their boxes filled with presents from generous donors.
It was a joy to see kids receiving their gifts and as a response, each class at KSCSI was encouraged to have 1-2 boxes to be filled with small items and gifts for the children in a feeding program in Payatas and in Awana Children’s Ministry in Bulacan. KSCSI students felt the generosity of giving, and as a result, it overflowed to others. Surely, KSCSI students have learned that God has blessed each one of us to be able to bless others also.
Without a doubt, Christmas means so much more. More than the gifts given and received, more than the smiles on children’s faces. More than what we could ever imagine. Because Christmas is Jesus Christ – the greatest GIFT we could ever receive and we must SHARE. Jesus is the GIFT we must all SHARE not only this season but all year round.
